Research- Getting Started

Benefits of doing research as a student

You have almost no time to even exist when you're a medical student, so why add a research project to your to-do list? It's fair to ask what you're going to get out of participating in research. Some benefits include:

  • Getting experience working as part of a research team
  • CV building- this is what most medical students focus on, and that's okay
  • Make yourself stand out to residency directors
  • Real-world application of concepts learned in the classroom
  • It's an opportunity to get to know ICOM faculty, staff, and fellow students
